Preparation of Stable CuO/Boron Nitride Nanocomposite Modified Electrode for Selective Electrochemical Detection of L–Cysteine

Abstract: L-cysteine (Cys) is one of the main amino acid and its deficiency could cause several diseases and biological disorders in our body. Thus, it is important to accurately detect Cys level in biological samples. Herein, we reported a facile strategy to fabricate novel electrode material consisting of conductive hybrid film made of copper oxide-boron nitride nanosheets (CuO/BN). Powdered X-ray diffraction (PXRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy results confirmed the successful formation of CuO/B… Show more

“…1(A) curve a) reveals the material is amorphous in nature, with a broad peak at 21–28° which corresponds to plane (001) is a good agreement and it shows less percentage of crystallinity. 53 Followed by, the XRD spectrum of h-BN shows a characteristic peak at 26.25°, 41.6°, 43.8°, 55.1°, and 75.5° could be attributed to crystalline planes (002), (100), (101), (004) and (110) respectively and the results are well matched with the (JCPDS card number 34-0421) 54 shown in Fig. 1(A) curve b.…”

“…Jerome et al. [150] modified the GCE with copper oxide–boron nitride (CuO/BN) nanosheets to achieve the detection of Cys with the LOD of 0.58 µM. The developed GCE/CuO/BN sensor was tested for amperometric detection of spiked Cys in human blood serum samples.…”

“…29 In the past decades, 2D layered materials have gradually become the focus of materials science by virtue of their unique layered structural properties and good optoelectronic properties. [30][31][32][33][34][35] Reduced graphene oxide (rGO), as one of the 2D materials, stands out for supercapacitor applications due to its remarkable electrochemical properties, high surface area, and excellent electronic properties. [36][37][38][39][40] Thus, carbonbased (such as rGO, porous carbon (PC), MXene, etc.)…”
