“…The reaction of tetramethylhydrazine with HN 3 is different from the other reactions since a clear solution forms after the addition of HN 3 . After distilling off ether and HN 3 , it was possible to isolate a yellowish oil that was purified by low temperature sublimation. (2) Compounds 3Ϫ6 are all sensitive to oxidation.…”

“…Azidotris(trifluoromethyl)germane was fully characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy (Table ). For the covalently bound species, three well-resolved resonances were found in the 14 N NMR spectrum (Figure ) and assignment of the individual resonances to N1, N2, and N3 (connectivity: Ge−N1−N2−N3) was made on the basis of the arguments given in earlier work by Witanowski and three reports on 14 N data of covalent azides by us. , The individual chemical shifts as well as line widths found for 1 nicely compare to those of the structurally closely related As(N 3 ) 3 and also IN 3 (cf. electronegativities, Allred/Rochow: Ge, 2.0; As, 2.2; I, 2.2) (Table ).…”

“…We have been studying the reactions of various nitrogen, phosphorus, arsenic, and antimony halides with silver azide and activated sodium azide. In 1992/1994 Ang et al published structural studies on the trifluoromethyl-substituted arsenic azides (CF 3 )As(N 3 ) 2 and (CF 3 ) 2 AsN 3 , and there is also a report on the preparation of ionic trimethylazidoarsonium compounds …”

“…14N NMR spectroscopy was also used to char acterize the prepared diazide complex. From earlier l4N NMR data for coordinated azides [12,13], indi vidually well resolved resonances of Na, Nb, and Nc (connectivity: Ru-Na-Nb-Nc) have been assigned in the 14N NMR spectrum of the complex. Each res onance at -337, -136, and -225 ppm corresponds to azide coordinated to Ru in the [Ru(tpy)(PPh3)2-(Nß)]+ complex [6], Although the three N atoms of the tpy ligand system in the [Ru(tpy)(PPh3)2 (^3 )2] complex could not be observed, the three nitrogen chemical shifts for the diazide ligands coordinated to the ruthenium atom in the complex were obtained at -335, -132, -278 ppm.…”
