Preparing the Degradable, Flame-Retardant and Low Dielectric Constant Nanocomposites for Flexible and Miniaturized Electronics with Poly(lactic acid), Nano ZIF-8@GO and Resorcinol Di(phenyl phosphate)

Abstract: Degradable, flame retardant, and flexible nanocomposite films with low dielectric constant were prepared with poly (lactic acid) (PLA), nano ZIF-8@GO, and degradable flame-retardant resorcinol di(phenyl phosphate) (RDP). The SEM results of the fractured surfaces indicated that ZIF-8@GO and RDP were dispersed uniformly in the PLA matrix. The prepared films had good mechanical properties and the tensile strength of the film with 1.5 wt% of ZIF-8@GO was increased to 48.2 MPa, compared with 38.5 MPa of pure PLA. M… Show more

“…The fractures on the surface of the samples can be attributed to the unoptimized heating process used to dry the samples. They were also observed in some other studies because of the rigidity of the ZIF-8 structure when combined with other materials . The surface area, pore size, and pore volume of pristine ZIF-8 and ZIF-8-[Bmim] 3 PW 12 O 40 were studied using BET analysis, and the results are summarized in Table .…”

“…They were also observed in some other studies because of the rigidity of the ZIF-8 structure when combined with other materials. 29 The surface area, pore size, and pore volume of pristine ZIF-8 and ZIF-8-[Bmim] 3 PW 12 O 40 were studied using BET analysis, and the results are summarized in Table 1. As expected, the surface area and pore volume of the ZIF-8 sample drastically decreased after [Bmim] 3 PW 12 O 40 encapsulation, which may be due to the blockage of the pores by IL.…”

“…Nano-ZIF-8 was also effective for improving the fire safety of another polymer, PLA. Nano-ZIF-8/PLA composite films were obtained by solution-blending and film-casting methods [ 239 ].The incorporation of nano-ZIF-8 enhanced the mechanical and thermal properties of PLA and influenced the polymer crystallization [ 40 , 239 , 240 , 241 ]. ZIF-8 is composed of Zn−O−Zn dinuclear units and imidazole units containing a large amount of nitrogen.…”

“…This calcium alginate film originates from the ocean initially and can be finally degraded in the ocean, which is thought to be an environmental-friendly ecosystem. Zhang et al raised a degradable and flexible nanocomposite film fabricated with poly lactic acid (PLA), nano ZIF-8@GO, and degradable flame-retardant resorcinol diphenyl phosphate (RDP) [179]. These environmentally friendly biodegradable polymers are ideal candidates for solving today's electronic waste pollution.…”
