Preset Lithium Source Electrolyte Boosts SiO Anode Performance for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Abstract: SiO is a promising alternative to Si as the anode material for lithium-ion batteries, but it still suffers from a low initial coulomb efficiency, poor electrical conductivity, unstable cycling performance, etc. Various strategies have been attempted to solve these issues but were left unsolved. In this work, we propose a simple strategy that checks all of the right boxes by presetting a lithium source electrolyte (Li2CO3) into a SiO film using the magnetron sputtering method. The preset lithium source electrol… Show more

“…Similar observations can be found in previous reports. 50,51 Figure 4a displays the rate capacity comparison of Si-SE and Si film. The discharge capacities of Si-SE are ∼2057, 2009, 1904, 1703, and 1661 mAh g −1 at 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, and 2 C, respectively.…”

“…The smaller gap between the charging and discharging curves of LLO@Ce-LCO indicates that the polarization decreased, in conformity to its distinct spinel heterogeneous interface. [44][45][46] The CV curves of the first three cycles of the three samples at a sweep speed of 0.1 mV s −1 were analyzed, as shown in Fig. S10.…”

“…Despite the rapid development of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) in recent decades, their finite energy and power densities are regarded as the main barriers to their further application [1][2][3][4] . The cathode is the most critical component and is crucial in determining the working voltage, energy density and cost of a LIB [5][6][7][8][9] .…”
