Abstract

Sir J. W. BAZALGETTE addressed the meeting in the following terms on taking the chair, for the first time, after his election as President :which our Institution has progressed.

"24 The project of a European Whitman Fellowship was never realized, but the very idea suggests how the impetus of Whitman reception was essentially transcultural in nature.…”
