Pretrial Detention and Rearrest: Evidence From Brazil

Abstract: In most legal systems, detaining individuals pretrial is a common practice. Pretrial detention prevents that defendants commit crimes while they wait for their trials, but prison experiences can also encourage future criminal activity.
