“…This is in line with the findings of (Risiquat 2013;Adenaike et al, 2016). Contamination of Kunun-aya may occur at any point since the drink, or the tiger nut is not boiled or heat-treated before preparation, and Zobo drinks may also be contaminated during cooling of the hot extract, addition of flavours and sweeteners or dispensing of the extracts into nylons and bottles (Risiquat, 2013;Ifeanyichukwu et al, 2016). Water used in processing has been identified as a major source of contamination.…”

“…In comparison, it is relatively resistant to Ceprorex 0(0%), Ciprofloxacin 3 (4%), Gentamycin 6(8), and Nalidixic acid 5(7%). The isolates from Zobo showed sensitivity to Tarivid 5(7%), Ciprofloxacin 5(7%), ceprorex 4(5%) and Septrin 3(4%), while resistant to Nalidixic acid 2(3%) and Ampillicin 1(1%) (Adenaike et al, 2016;Ifeanyichukwu et al, 2016). CONCLUSION Salmonella isolates obtained from the drinks suggested that Kunun-aya were highly contaminated by Salmonella, while Zobo drink was less contaminated.…”

“…Salmonellosis is one of the most important foodborne diseases in humans, which has been increasing in recent years (Harsha et al, 2011). Salmonellosis can be transmitted through the food chain, especially poultry products in the absence of proper hygiene and infection control practices (Ifeanyichukwu et al, 2016;Ramatla et al, 2019). Contaminated feces excreted into the environment could be a source of the bacteria to naive hosts, sustaining its existence over the layer farm environment, therefore, feces played an important role in Salmonella dispersal (Carrique-Mas and Davies 2008;Oloso et al, 2018).…”

“…Poultry can serve as a reservoir for various foodborne pathogens. Numerous studies in recent years have demonstrated that Salmonella and Campylobacter species are the primary culprits behind human foodborne bacterial illnesses associated with poultry (Ifeanyichukwu et al, 2016). Foodborne infections and intoxications are responsible for approximately one billion cases of acute diarrhea every year among children under the age of five in regions such as Africa, Asia, Latin America, and other developing nations (Mulata et al, 2014).…”
