Prevalence and distribution of canine neoplastic and non-neoplastic cutaneous lesions in Serbia: a retrospective study of 2432 Cases (2011 – Mid 2021)

Abstract: Cutaneous lesions, especially skin tumors in dogs, are among the most common lesions in this animal species. The aim of this study was to identify the most common types of canine cutaneous lesions, to determine the absolute and relative frequency of each type of cutaneous lesion, anatomical locations, mean age, as well as gender and breed distribution. The examination included all samples of cutaneous lesions in dogs obtained by surgical biopsy in veterinary clinics and examined at the Laboratory of the Depart… Show more

“…The study by M. Patel et al (2019) indicates that the pathology of the sebaceous glands accounted for 4.04% of cases of all skin diseases in dogs, while out of 23 cases, three adenocarcinomas and one hyperplasia (atheroma) were diagnosed in 19 cases. In other studies, V. Kukolj et al (2021) indicate that pathological changes in the sebaceous glands had a slightly different proportion. Thus, out of 2432 skin biopsies in dogs, a cyst was detected in 35% of cases, and an adenoma -only in 4.4%.…”

“…The observed phenomenon of heterogeneity of the morphological structure of the corpora lutea of the heifer's ovaries by differential palpation in vivo, has become an opportunity to explain the pathogenesis of hypotrophic changes in tissues due to sclerotisation of the walls of blood vessels, both arterial and venous, which was histologically confirmed by O.A. Baban et al (2021). Microanatomical examination of the ovaries of heifers with symptoms of anaphrodisia revealed a characteristic decrease in the density of follicular cells in the primary follicles around the oocytes and the formation of gaps between them.…”
