Prevalence of 16S rRNA methylases in Gram-negative bacteria derived from companion animals and livestock in Japan

Abstract: The emergence and spread of aminoglycoside-resistant bacteria are a public health concern. The acquisition of the genes encoding 16S rRNA methylases, such as armA , rmtA , and rmtB , confers high-level resistance to aminoglycosides.
