Abstract:Background:The emergence of Penicillin resistance and multidrug-resistant pneumococcal strains is a global concern. Several reports have demonstrated a correlation between increased Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of Penicillin, and increased MICs of Cephalosporins and other β-lactam antibiotics.
