Abstract: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to determine the prevalence of depression among elderly people living with HIV. We searched electronic databases and included 12 observational studies that reported on depression among people who were 50 years of age or older and had HIV. The studies were mostly hospital-based and from Western and African countries. They included a total of 5868 older people with HIV, of whom 1667 had depression.
