“…This result agrees with previous reports on the seroprevalence of HIV among TB patients, which indicated highly variable rates of HIV-TB co-infection worldwide; for instance, in Eastern India, the seroprevalence was 44%; in Sindh, Pakistan 0.29%; and in Cambodia it was 38%. 2,9,11,12,[20][21][22][23] The prevalence of HIV among TB patients in this work was higher than that reported by the World Health Organization in 2018 (2%) and lower than the 2016 report (4.9%). 1,14,15 Compared with other regions, the prevalence of HIV among patients in this study was lower than that reported recently in Ogun State, Nigeria, 11 in which the prevalence of HIV infection was 29.3%, with 34% of these among TB patients in the middle age group (25-49 years).…”

“…Furthermore, dissemination of information on the HIV/AIDS epidemic and its impact on TB patients for more systematic surveillance is urgently required, necessitating the development of joint strategies for resources and planning activities for people with HIV and TB co-infection. [11][12][13] Countries such as those in the Sub-Saharan Africa are severely impacted by the HIV/AIDS pandemic and urgently need special consideration in tacking this issue; for instance, a recent study reported that, of the total number of people with HIV worldwide, 6 six of every 10 men, 5 of every 10 women, and 9 of every 10 children live in Sub-Saharan Africa. 11 According to the World Health Organization annual global report in 2016 about the status of TB infection in Sudan, 7% of the TB patients were also positive for HIV, 14 and in 2018 this was estimated to be 3%.…”

“…Os resultados corroboram com estudo realizado em um país em desenvolvimento, o qual aponta que a grande maioria dessa coinfecção concentra-se no grupo etário economicamente produtivo (entre 25 a 49 anos). Este fato pode ser justificado devido a uma maior exposição às atividades realizadas nesta fase da vida, como relações sexuais, transfusões de sangue com seringas e agulhas contaminadas e uso de drogas injetáveis (11) .…”
