“…Another possible explanation for the results is that the study subjects who underwent physical examinations, not all of subjects had hypertension, diabetes, etc. A clinical study by Maloberti et al indicated that there was no difference in the increase of IMT or carotid plaque in the normal group with high blood pressure, and the odds of having arterial stiffness or carotid hypertension mediated organ damage in the high-normal group was not different to the normal group in multivariate analysis ( 23 ). Further studies are needed in individuals with hypertension alone.…”

“…It is noted that the expected standard-of-practice is that reported PWV measurements are actually the average of two consecutive measurements or the median of three consecutive measurements if the difference between the first two exceeds 0.5 m/s [63]. “…The increasing prevalence of hypertension has been considered an important risk factor for CVDs, especially in developing countries [ 17 ]. Hypertension could increase the risk of negative impacts on various target organs, and this can lead to developing stroke, coronary heart disease, or heart failure [ 18 ]. In addition, hyperuricemia could also affect the progression of hypertension [ 19 ].…”
