Abstract: This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of intestinal parasitic infections in children and assess the drug susceptibility and genotypes/assemblages of Giardia lamblia in Thailand. This cross-sectional study was conducted among children aged 3–12 years in Sangkhlaburi District, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand, between 25 September 2017 and 12 January 2018. “…In this study, the infection rate of Blastocystis in children from Wenzhou was 6.5%, lower than in Jiangxi (35.9%) [ 39 ], Xinjiang (14.3%) [ 23 ], and Fujian (8.9%) [ 13 ], but higher than in Guangdong (5.0%) [ 34 ], Anhui (1.0%) [ 32 ], and Yunnan (3.1%) [ 38 ]. Overall, the infection rate of Blastocystis in Chinese children was lower compared to some developing countries, like Nigeria (84.0%) [ 22 ], Mexico (78.4%) [ 12 ], Thailand (49.3%) [ 33 ], Ecuador (39.2%) [ 30 ], and Indonesia (33.3%) [ 1 ]. These data indicate significant regional differences in Blastocystis infection rates.…”
