Abstract:Background: Chronic dacryocystitis is a common ophthalmological problem in Bangladesh. Clinicians need to prescribe antibiotics to patients as an early conservative treatment protocol and, for prevention of post-operative soft tissue infections. But in most of the cases, the empiric antibiotic therapy shows treatment failure and, consequent development of complications, which might be due to emergence and spread of Multi-Drug-Resistant (MDR) organisms.
