“…For dairy producers, MAP infection translates to significant financial losses related to reduced milk production, decreased pregnancy rates, increased replacement costs, and decreased slaughtered carcass weight (3,4), not to mention diminished animal welfare. Around 24-66% of dairy herds in Canada are MAP infected (5). Horizontal transmission of infection via the fecal-oral route is the most important mode of spread of infection due to the high amounts of MAP excreted in the feces.…”
