“…To meet this challenge, they must be aware of the prevalence of NP in their units and the frequency with which cancer pain is inadequately managed. Therefore, we conducted a study [28] to fi nd out the prevalence of NP among cancer outpatients visiting RT units and the analgesic treatment currently used in these patients. The study [28] showed 31% prevalence and a signifi cant increase in treatment-satisfi ed patients with the current vs. previous treatment, with the major difference between treatments being a 6-fold increase in anticonvulsants (2-fold increase in gabapentin and 10-fold in PGB).…”

“…Few previous studies have addressed the relation between treatment-related neuropathic pain and sleep quality of breast cancer patients [26,27]. In a study from Israel, assessing the relationship between symptom clusters and chemotherapy-induced neuropathic pain in a sample of 40 patients treated with paclitaxel, the authors found that the "high cluster group" included patients who reported both high levels of pain with neuropathic pain characteristics and sleep disturbances [26].…”

A study from Spain assessing patients for a median time of 18 months after cancer diagnosis, found that the pharmacological treatment of neuropathic pain was associated with an improvement in sleep quality eight weeks later [27]. In both studies, the identification of Inventory.…”

“…27,58 Following radiotherapy, the prevalence of NP in oncology units is increased, leading to sleepiness, anxiety and depression. 59 Diagnostic or therapeutic surgery may lead to NCP, with incidence reaching high rates (60% to 90%) in some cases, such as after surgery for breast cancer, or after thoracotomy. 23,27 Postmastectomy pain syndrome is reported in about 20% of women, 60 may be particularly troublesome and could consequently affect patients' quality of life.…”
