“…Considering these different AASA and PASA results in men and women, in our study the male acetabulum was significantly more retroverted than that in women. These results are in line with those in previous reports, which showed that a retroverted acetabulum was detected in men significantly more often than in women [ 29 , 30 ]. In other words, it is suggested that there is posterior undercoverage of the acetabulum in men and anterior undercoverage in women.…”

“…However, we do not think this is the case since our CT radiologist has > 30 years of clinical experience in musculoskeletal radiology; she only measured to the acetabular edge and our measurements were generally lower than those on the younger patients from the two other studies. The patient selection may also have affected the measurements, because we did not exclude patients with borderline hip dysplasia (CE angle = 20–25°) coxa profunda or pincer morphology since these are highly prevalent conditions in the general population (11,16–18). Tallroth et al.…”

“…Nevertheless, the results of this study indicate that the HP should not be misunderstood as a sign suggesting the high probability of FAI, as opposed to some other studies. 14,18,19) The limitation to be pointed out in this study is the small number of cases. However, the serial changes in bone scan findings were very consistent in all cases.…”
