Abstract:Background
Disorders affecting the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), related structures, and the masticatory muscles are called temporomandibular disorders (TMD). The two most typical symptoms are mouth opening restriction and pain. Costen noted the connection between TMD and tinnitus in 1934.
