“…Exploring the attitudes and knowledge of parents and teachers about children's rights is important for many reasons as indicated by the previous study (Deb & Mathews 2012). A number of previous studies clearly indicated that parents and teachers are the perpetrators for physical and psychological abuse of a large number of children worldwide (Deb & Modak 2010;Deb & Walsh 2011). One and perhaps the only Indian study carried out in Agartala, Tripura -a North Eastern States in India on knowledge and perception of parents and teachers about child rights highlighted that most parents and teachers had positive attitudes about children's rights, including rights to health and education, and freedom from child marriage and inappropriate work.…”
