McMahon et al 13 Directive 97/43/Euratom 15 which requires all European Union (EU) member states to both justify and optimise the use of ionising radiation in all radiological imaging procedures and to pay particular attention to pregnant women and women of childbearing age. As such the use of CT scanning during pregnancy should be strictly limited to those occasions when it is deemed to be entirely necessary and steps should be taken to limit the radiation dose so long as the quality of the generated images is consistent with the intended purpose of the examination.…”
