“…For example, when the ALR is in the grey zone (3.0–<4.0), a CSI of <1.0 is predictive of good surgical outcomes . In addition, if AVS is not bilaterally successful, a CSI of <0.5 is highly predictive of contralateral disease . Also, patients with a CSI of <0.47 are at increased risk for postoperative hyperkalemia (see treatment section below) .…”

“…A low CR has also been associated with primary aldosteronism cure in patients with an LR <4 on AVS who underwent unilateral adrenalectomy [ 32 ]. Strajina et al [ 33 ] also showed that a CR ≤0.5 in patients with failed cannulation of one of the adrenal veins in AVS was predictive of unilateral primary aldosteronism. In our study, a CR ≤0.5 was not associated with hypertension resolution after surgery; however, our study is likely to be underpowered to detect any significance due to the lack of patients who underwent surgery with a CR >1 and the small sample size.…”

“…The aldosterone concentration and aldosterone to cortisol ratio was clearly highest in the left adrenal, and also higher at all left renal vein locations compared to those on the right side. Although this confirmed hypersecretion by the left adrenal harboring the adenoma, the failure to properly cannulate the right adrenal vein left the possibility that there was also hypersecretion on the right side (15).…”
