Primary Aortogastric Fistula Caused by Ulcerated Gastric Carcinoma: A Rare Cause of Sudden Death

Highlights Aortogastric fistula is rare however often fatal. Diagnosis is frequently missed or delayed, and usually made intra-operatively or during autopsy. High index of suspicion and CTA are key to diagnosis. Endoscopy and catheter angiography are often non diagnostic. Surgical repair is the gold standard therapy, but endovascular repair is becoming the preferred initial treatment.
