“…A clue to the possible spread was provided by the finding of a peri-ureteric vein adjacent to the ureteric tumour filled with adenocarcinoma and it is suggested that the secondary deposit developed in the lumen of the ureter from retrograde venous spread. Kontoff and Hershman (1954) reported a case of primary transitional cell carcinoma of the LEFT ureter being treated five months after a RIGHT hemicolectomy for carcinoma of the ascending colon. They stated that since Rayer (1841) in France first reported a case of primary carcinoma of the ureter, there have been 312 such cases reported but that none of these cases was associated with another primary malignancy.…”
