“…Six cases were DLBCL, and two were low-grade MALT lymphoma. Quiroga-Centeno et al [ 6 ] showed that male gender predominates via data obtained from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) study. The mean age at presentation of MALT lymphoma patients was 78.5 years, and the mean age at presentation of patients of the other histological type was 65 years.…”

“…Surgical and endoscopic resections could be a reasonable alternative approach according to histological type and initial site of the tumor. The median overall survival was 12 months with excellent prognosis of MALT lymphoma compared with DLBCL [ 6 ]. Other histological types of PEL have also been described in the literature including Burkitt's lymphoma [ 7 ], mantle cell [ 8 ], anaplastic [ 9 , 10 ], T-cell lymphoma [ 11 ], Hodgkin's lymphoma [ 2 , 12 ], and true histiocytic lymphoma [ 13 ].…”

“…Esophageal lymphoma is usually secondary to the metastasis of lymph nodes from the cervical and mediastinal region or local invasion from the stomach ( 1 ), and thus primary esophageal lymphoma (PEL) is extremely rare, which accounts for <1% of cases of all primary gastrointestinal lymphoma ( 2 ). The clinical manifestations of PEL are non-specific, which may vary based on symptoms such as dyspepsia, dysphagia, nausea, vomiting, abdominal distention, weight loss, fever, and even epigastric pain to massive hemorrhage ( 3 ).…”

A case report of giant primary esophageal follicular lymphomaTo the Editor, Gastrointestinal (GI) lymphoma accounts for 30%-50% of all primary extranodal lymphomas, the majority of which are non-Hodgkin's lymphomas (NHL) with B-cell type predominance. 1,2 The stomach and small intestine are the most commonly affected sites of GI lymphomas, 1 whereas esophagus was affected in less than 1% of the cases. 3,4 Histologically, 70%-80% of extranodal marginal zone lymphomas are mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL).
