“…2). When the entire GO is involved, typical findings on the CT scan are the vascular pedicle associated with a large fatty abdominal mass located anteriorly (9) and a mass of fat density showing streaks in a whirling pattern surrounded by a small hyperdense strip (3,4,5). The vascular pedicle sign (9) is an enhancing dot surrounded by a small hypodense rim consisting of several twists of the vessels followed by the fatty abdominal mass.…”

“…In several studies published IOI was defined as having benign, selflimiting and inflammatory course consisting of gradual retraction, fibrosis and complete resolution in 2 weeks. When this course was considered a conservative treatment with analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs under close follow-up is recommended (26,27,28) but surgical treatment is preferred for a better pain control, rapid recovery, to prevent complications like spontaneous bleeding, adhesion or abscess (18,29). Only in one patient with diagnosis of IOP, preoperative diagnosis was established and low dose of corticosteroid was started and omental mass was regressed.…”

“…Most patients present with right-sided abdominal pain (90%), and males are more frequently affected (ratio 2 : 1) [3, 4]. It has been postulated that the right side of the omentum is more susceptible to infarction due to its greater length and mobility [5].…”
