Primary T-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma of the Vagina

Abstract: The primary vaginal T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a rare form of lymphoma. Most of the previously published cases were about B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphomas. We present the case of a vaginal mass in an 82-year-old patient presenting vaginal bleeding. The results of the immunohistological studies of the mass revealed the presence of a cytotoxic T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is the least common subtype.

The majority of cases are of B-cell origin, with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) being the most common histologic subtype [ 1 , 3 ].…”

“…The majority of cases are of B-cell origin, with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) being the most common histologic subtype [1,3]. T-cell lymphomas involving the gynecologic tract are far less common and typically have a poor prognosis [1][2][3][4][5][6][7]. Herein, we describe a case of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK)-positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALK+ ALCL) with secondary involvement of the uterus and cervix successfully treated with systemic chemotherapy.…”

“…The Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary defines lymphoma as the malignant form of lymphatic tissue and dates 1873 as when it was first named [1]. Now, there are single case reports from Turkey [2], India [3], Italy [4], Portugal [5], China [6], Japan [7], and Spain [8]. Therefore, having encountered the single case, which appeared among the Igbo ethnic group [9], this report is deemed to be worthy of demonstration.…”
