The aim of the study is to determine the severity, frequency and non-pharmacological methods preferred in the management of dysmenorrhea. This descriptive study was conducted with 377 female students studying at a faculty. The data were collected with the "Personal Description Form" and the "Visual Analog Scale". In statistical evaluation; arithmetic mean, percentile distribution, standard deviation were used. It was determined that the mean age of the young girls was 20.68±1.98 years, the mean age of menarche was 13.12±1.52, 74.8% had regular menstrual cycles, 79.1% had dysmenorrhea, and 77.2% used non-pharmacological methods. In addition, most of the young girls experienced moderate to severe pain in the leg, abdomen and waist region; It was determined that most of them had mild to moderate pain in the chest, head, knee and hip regions. It was determined that the young girls preferred hot water bag, herbal tea, exercise and massage the most, respectively, in the whole area of pain and pain severity classification. The mean score of pain experienced in the abdomen was 6.56±2.80 and the mean score of pain experienced in the lumbar region was 6.06±2.83. When the abdominal, waist, chest, and knee regions were compared in terms of the preferred non-pharmacological methods, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the groups. As a result, dysmenorrhea is quite common among young girls, with mostly moderate to severe pain being experienced. The most severe pain is seen in the abdomen and waist region.
