Printed Thin-Film Transistors: Research from China

Abstract: Thin-film transistors (TFTs) have experienced tremendous development during the past decades and show great promising applications in flat displays, sensors, radio frequency identification tags, logic circuit, and so on. The printed TFTs are the key components for rapid development and commercialization of printed electronics. The researchers in China play important roles to accelerate the development and commercialization of printed TFTs. In this review, we comprehensively summarize the research progress of p… Show more

“…Decrease in transistor performance is observed, with PDBD‐Se's p‐type/n‐type mobility extracted to be 4.73/2.55 cm 2 V −1 s −1 , respectively (Figure S12, Supporting Information). However, this is the highest performance metrics for inkjet‐printed ambipolar OFETs to date …”

“…However, the commonly used printing techniques, including inkjet printing, [ 11 ] gravure printing, [ 12,13 ] and screen printing, [ 14,15 ] have limited scalability and resolution (micro or sub‐micro scale). [ 16,17 ] Directed‐assembly‐based printing, on the other hand, is scalable and can realize high resolution of tens of nanometers. [ 18,19 ] Directed assembly is achieved by applying external fields such as electric, [ 20–22 ] magnetic, [ 23,24 ] optical, [ 25–27 ] and flow fields [ 28–30 ] on nanoelements and guiding the nanoelements to targeted sites to form functional structures.…”

“…To date, solution processes have been widely used for fabricating QD films because they involve mild conditions and easy operation, such as contact printing, spin coating, screen printing, roll‐to‐roll coating, blade coating, inkjet printing, and others . However, these approaches normally suffer from the limitations of either high‐cost or low film quality.…”
