Printed triple‐band rectangular ring monopole antenna with symmetrical L‐strips for WLAN/WiMAX applications

Abstract: A novel printed triple‐band rectangular ring monopole antenna with symmetrical L‐strips for wireless local area network (WLAN) and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) applications is presented. The antenna is simply composed of a rectangular ring monopole, a pair of symmetrical L‐strips, and a modified T‐shaped stub. By adjusting the positions and the lengths of these structures, three different current paths can be produced at different frequency bands, respectively. On the basis of this c… Show more

“…The hybrid strips are used to achieve tri‐band resonances as well as reduce the size of the antenna. Compared to the existing designs , up to 70%'s antenna size reduction has been achieved. A parametric study is given and it shows the change of antenna return loss versus the variation of antenna dimensions.…”

“…Since then, to achieve short‐ and long‐range applications in modern wireless communication systems, we need multiband and broadband antennas that can meet WiMAX as well as WLAN standards. To come up with multi‐ and wide‐band WLAN/WiMAX antennas, various types of antenna designs for WLAN/WiMAX band operation have been introduced .…”
