Show more

“…Air is passing through both units from right to left. The rotating brush (1) receives the feed material from a small hopper (2). The feed material enters the voids between the bristles, is transported to the feeding point (3) and is then released into the incoming air travelling past the feeding point.…”

“…The feed material enters the voids between the bristles, is transported to the feeding point (3) and is then released into the incoming air travelling past the feeding point. The brush acts similarly to a rotary (2) Fig. 10 The Clausthal feeding and dispt>rsmg umt vane feeder, controlling the throughput of particles by means of its speed of rotation, while producing a constant mass flow rate with little fluctuation.…”

“…The Matsuzaka Elbow-Jet classifier (Figure 15) is based on a transverse flow principle [Rumpf and Leschonski, 1967]. The stream of feed particles are accelerated to minimize the effect of gravity, and introduced into an air jet at right angles.…”

“…It is used to fractionate very small aerosol fineparticles of Stokes diameter of 0.015-2.0 microns [22]. The cross-flow classifier shown in Figure 5.10, developed by various investigators, is an industrial-scale horizontal elutriator [24,25,26]. The aerosol is initially drawn into an ionization chamber in which the ionization conditions are controlled so that the fineparticles of the aerosol are charged in such a way that the electrical mobility of the fineparticle is proportional to its size.…”
