Probing Leptogenesis and Pre-BBN Universe with Gravitational Waves Spectral Shapes

Rome Samanta,
Satyabrata Datta

Abstract: On the frequency-amplitude plane, Gravitational Waves (GWs) from cosmic strings show a flat plateau at higher frequencies due to the string loop dynamics in standard radiation dominated post-inflationary epoch. The spectrum may show an abrupt upward or a downward trend beyond a turning point frequency f * , if the primordial dark age prior to the Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBN), exhibits non-standard cosmic histories. We argue that such a spectral break followed by a rising GW amplitude which is a consequence o… Show more

“…As possible extensions of this work, we briefly discussed a simple embedding into a U (1) B−L model with three right-handed neutrinos, detail its prospects for also including a realistic explanation for the neutrino masses and baryogenesis, and outline some constraints that can be obtained from ultra-high-energy cosmic rays. parameter ω, the scaling number density n ω (t, l k ) can be computed as [87,121]…”

“…This scenario is relevant in our case, since the PBHs introduce an early matter domination era before BBN. For the k = 1 mode, the f * can be calculated in a simple analytical way that gives [69,121]…”

“…Similarly, loops produced during the matter era result in a steeply falling contribution to the GW spectrum when going from higher to lower frequencies [15]. In this sense, cosmic strings can be used to probe nonstandard expansion histories of the early Universe, such as early matter domination [18,19] and kination [20,21], see also Ref. [22].…”
