“…In the absence of detailed studies, data collected here strongly suggest that the origin of this erosive surface can be related to a Tortonian high sealevel (Haq et al, 1987) around the emergent reliefs of the rising Betic Cordillera. This would imply a marinelittoral origin for the planation event proposed by Lhénaff (1967), and the erosion surface would represent a wide late Tortonian abrasion platform (Fig. 3).…”
