Proceedings of the Second International Symposium on Radiation Detectors and Their Uses (ISRD2018)
Abstract:It is well known that the response of gas-filled radiation detectors, operating under gas amplification, is adversely affected by the space-charge effect of positive ions created in electron avalanches. In this paper, we have analysed the reflection of the space-charge effect on the shape of output pulses from a parallel-plate avalanche counter. It is shown that, under the space-charge effect, the shape of output current pulses has a striking dependence on the amount of primary ionization, providing a means fo… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
