“…These results indicate that the detected peaks of the studied materials align with those in past works involving cast and extruded (DMD) Mg 70 Al 18 Zn 6 Ca 4 Y 2 [9,10], indicating that the crystalline structure and phases formed within these materials are similar to those in previous efforts. This can be corroborated by the AlMg 2 Zn (previously identified as Al x Mg y Zn y ) , Al 2 Ca, and Al 2 Y previously detected by SEM and EDS characterization, with similar observations of Al 4 Ca phases coexisting with the Al 2 Y phases identified [9].…”

“…As far as Mg-based materials are concerned, an MCA of particular interest is the lightweight Mg 70 Al 18 Zn 6 Ca 4 Y 2 (atomic weight%) low-entropy alloy [9,10], exhibiting reasonable ductility and overcoming previous trends of brittleness associated with Aland Mg-based lightweight MCAs due to presence of secondary phases. This alloy is also notable for having exhibited mechanical properties (hardness, strength) far in excess of any available commercial alloy in its extruded form, which positions it as a prospect for further exploration in a class of next-generation materials suitable for use in structural applications.…”
