Correlations among seeding temperature, the aspect ratio of NdBCO seeds and the growth morphologies of NdBCO-Ag grains have been conducted in detail. On the basis of these correlations, large c-axis-oriented NdBCO-Ag superconducting grains were fabricated using NdBCO seeds and a simple processing system which does not require detailed control of oxygen partial pressure. These NdBCO-Ag grains exhibited superconducting properties similar to NdBCO materials. In view of the simplicity of the processing system and the effectiveness of the seeding technique, scaling-up of the production of NdBCO-Ag large grain materials for engineering applications could be possible.
