“…We coded the transcripts by using the GABEK-WinRelan method (Zelger, 2000(Zelger, , 2019 that allowed us to organize and structure large amounts of unstructured qualitative data with the aim to reduce the immense complexity and to identify underlying motivations for actions of interviewees (Buber & Kraler, 2000;Raich et al, 2014). We initially conducted a detailed reading of the transcripts examining the collected data, followed by the manual coding of keywords found in a "text unit" under consideration of the rigorous coding standards of GABEK-WinRelan (Zelger, 2000;Zelger & Oberprantacher, 2002). A text unit, as defined by Zelger (1991), is a coherent and meaningful set of ideas that typically consists of three to nine lexical terms, that is, keywords.…”

“…Structuring of everyday language is facilitated by the software WinRelan® (Windows Relation Analysis) developed for GABEK applications, enabling a holistic understanding of complex social phenomena such as, for instance, tourism. This method is particularly suitable to capture and vividly visualise the attitudes, values, and knowledge of the interview partners without neglecting the verifiability of the findings (Zelger and Oberprantacher 2002).…”

“…GABEK ® is a computer-assisted method in qualitative research and textual analysis that allows one to reduce content complexity by coding texts on a keyword basis (Buber and Zelger 2000). The analysis was conducted following the steps suggested by Zelger and Oberprantacher (Zelger and Oberprantacher 2002). Data, i.e., the transcribed interviews, were firstly divided into sense units, i.e., meaningful short sections, and then loaded into WinRelan.…”
