Produção e caracterização física-mêcanica de briquetes produzidos a partir de resíduos de marcenaria para fins energéticos

Abstract

With the passing years, the energy comsuption growth has intensified, making that the exploration for natural resources grows even more, with that it's necessary-the search for renewable energy sources. United with this, there's also the waste generation, that is becoming even more elevated. Therefore, for this matters to be minimized or mitigated, the solid wastes can be utilized to produce energy, and a way to accomplish that, is by means of briquetting of wooden wastes. Thus, this work's objectives are to, develop, physical-mechanical characterize and valuate briquettes created from of woodwork waste, to energetic means. To that was produced briquettes with granulometry of 2,00 mm, 1,00 mm, 0,50 mm e 0,25 mm, with resíduos of woodwork from Januária -MG. As binder it was used 10,5 g of beaten paper with 180 ml of water, also 7 g of maize starch mixed to 45 ml of water, being this in a gelatinous consistency. Posteriorly, the briquetting material was taken to a hydraulic press to be compacted with pressure of 8 t. After the compaction of the briquettes was dried in a greenhouse for 72 h in 35°C. The briquettes were put to to apparent density analyzes, impact resistance, water absortion capacity. The results demonstrate that the briquetteswith granulometry of 0,25 mm showed an higher apparent density, being of 0,56 g cm -3 . To the water absortion capacity, the measure that the granulometry of the briquettes shrunk that one shrunk too. To the impact resistance, the granulometry didn't showed influency. It's noted that the granulometry exercises influence in the main characteristics that dictates the quality of the briquettes and those show themselves as a good alternative to renewable source of termal energy.
