Abstract: Investigation of production and reproduction characteristics two breeds of cows, Simmental and Holstein Friesian in bad conditions of feeding and rearing was done and their results were compared. In the milk production Holstein Friesian breed had average production: 4795 kg in the first 5334 kg in the second 5417 kg in the third standard lactation. Simmental breed had average production in the first 4084 kg in the second 4440 kg and in the third 4483 kg milk. In the milk production Holstein Friesian breed, lik… Show more

“…There are many studies showing the negative correlation between high milk yield and reproduction performance (Lucy 2001;Dobson et al 2008;Walsh et al 2011). These results are in parallel with international studies in which milk yields of two breeds are compared (Micinski et al 2014;Janzekovic et al 2009;Budimir et al 2011;Toledo-Alvarado et al 2017). At national literature, on the other hand, there is no reference study where these two breeds are compared for milk yields.…”

“…In the study of Budimir et al (2011) in Bosnia and Hercegovina, Simmental breed cows had average milk production in the first lactation of 4084 kg, in the second 4440 kg and in the third 4483 kg in very bad conditions of feeding and rearing, meaning that there is genetic potential and the possibility of more efficient utilization and of increasing production of milk.…”

“…Одним із ефективних методів поліпшення молочної продуктивності, морфо-функціональних властивостей вимені, відтворювальної здатності тварин, на думку деяких дослідників (Budimir et al, 2011;Bahrov, 2014), є схрещування корів симентальської породи з бугаями голштинської породи. Вони повідомляють, що використання генофонду голштинської породи дозволяє значно підвищити молочну продуктивність і поліпшити технологічні якості симентальської худоби.…”
