Abstract:Bacillus spp. produces lipopeptides that are of pharmaceutical and agricultural interest and include iturins, surfactins and fengycins. Their antimicrobial mechanism has been well studied but the role of the lipid chain and its biosynthesis is relatively unknown, especially in fengycin. In this project, we aim to fully understand the mechanisms of fengycin’s antimicrobial activity and generate new fengycins with fluorine in the lipid chain. We have already produced fluorinated lipopeptides via precursor-direct… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
