Production of multi-strangeness hypernuclei and the YN-interaction

Abstract: We investigate for the first time the influence of hyperon-nucleon (YN) interaction models on the strangeness dynamics of antiproton- and $\Xi$-nucleus interactions. Of particular interest is the formation of bound multi-strangeness hypermatter in reactions relevant for \panda. The main features of two well-established microscopic approaches for YN-scattering are first discussed and their results are then analysed such that they can be applied in transport-theoretical simulations. The transport calculations fo… Show more

“…Besides including all necessary binary processes for (anti)baryon-(anti)baryon, meson-baryon and meson-meson scattering and annihilation [34], the most important ingredients are the new ΞN cross section parameterizations. The main results of our investigation in [28] are found in Fig.(4). The most remarkable feature is the strong dependence of the distributions of Ξ-bound hypernuclei on the underlying ΞN model, although both interactions are leading to almost identical S = −1 distributions [28].…”

“…This can be traced back to the different behaviour of the ΞN cross sections: in the Rijken model the elastic channel basically vanishes and the inelastic channel drastically drops down at higher energies. On the other hand, both channels stabilize at a finite value in the Fujiwara description [53]. As a consequence, the production of twin hypernuclei is about a factor of 5 larger when using the Fujiwara description.…”

“…Two different YN-interaction models were considered, which are based on the microscopic calculations of the Nijmegen group by Rijken and Yamamoto [54,55] and by Fujiwara et al [56] (see Ref. [53] for more details). While for the Fujiwara model the production of two free Λ particles continuously increases, the Rijken model predicts a maximum around an incident energy of 100 MeV followed by a continuous decline for rising energy.…”
