Production of two hadrons in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering

Abstract: We present the general expression, in terms of structure functions, of the cross section for the production of two hadrons in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering. We analyze this process including full transverse-momentum dependence up to subleading twist and check, where possible, the consistency with existing literature.

Here the cross section is still modulated with respect to the sine of the difference of the unintegrated hadron's azimuthal angle and ϕ S , with a coefficient involving the moments of the Fourier expansions of both the unintegrated cross section terms σ 1 and σ 2 .…”

“…The underlying theoretical framework of the here presented analysis for the expression of the transversemomentum-dependent two-hadron semi-inclusive deep- inelastic scattering cross section is developed in Ref. “…As detailed in Ref. [1], this redefinition not only may help in the interpretation and presentation of cross-section moments, but it also allows to derive the two-hadron semiinclusive deep-inelastic scattering cross section from the single-hadron semi-inclusive deep-inelastic cross section, and this at any twist level.…”
