Productivity, metabolism and physiology of free-living chemoautotrophic Epsilonproteobacteria

Abstract: Chemoautotrophic ecosystems at deep-sea hydrothermal vents were discovered in 1977, but not until 1995 were free-living autotrophic Epsilonproteobacteria identified as important microbial community members.
