The main requirement of modern society for higher professional education in Ukraine is the training of competitive and competent specialists in the field of informatics who can participate in international competition and constantly develop professionally. The modern educational system sets before itself the task of forming competences in students on the basis of active educational and cognitive activities aimed at the development of critical thinking, creative abilities and independence. Thus, it is important to form not only knowledge, but also the ability to use it in various life situations, in particular in the educational, professional and everyday environment.The formation of research competence can help students in this, as it contributes to the development of the skills of searching, analyzing, interpreting and using information, as well as the formation of critical thinking and an innovative approach to solving tasks.Having analyzed the structural components of research competence during the training of a future teacher in previous investigations and having identified the main ones, namely: motivational-value, informational-content, activity-behavioral and evaluative-reflective, we had the need to identify the main criteria for the formation of research competence of future informatics teachers by means of cloud and mobile technologies, which will help us determine the indicators of its formation.The article defines and substantiates the criteria and indicators of the formation of research competence of future computer science teachers. In order to determine the criteria for the formation of the studied phenomenon, the ratio of the concepts «criterion» and «indicator» was established.
