Profile Design Method of Twin-Screw Compressor Rotors Based on the Pixel Solution

Abstract: A new design method based on pixel solution is proposed to achieve an efficient and high-precision design of a twin-screw rotor profile. This method avoids the complex analytic calculations in the traditional envelope principle. The best approximation of the pixels of the rotor conjugate motion sweeping surface in the lattice screen pixels is illuminated using a specific color. The sweeping surface of the screw rotor single-tooth profile is roughly scanned to capture the base point set of the sweeping surface … Show more

“…A new tendency is to use splines, Bezier or Non-Rational Uniform Rational B-Spline curves to represent traditional analytical curves in designing profiles, which are advantageous for curve formation or representation but inconvenient for calculating contact points of conjugate surfaces [24]. Some graphic technologies are also applied to generate profiles of rotors and grinding wheels, such as edge detection method [25,26] and pixel solution [27]. Recently, more work is focused on the optimization of the existing profiles for different applications and operating conditions based on geometric characteristics [28] or comprehensive thermodynamic simulation [29,30].…”

“…Scholars at home and abroad have carried out research work on the profile, flow field simulation and vibration of twin-screw pump, among which Zhihuang Shen et al [1] study the efficient and high-precision design method of double-screw rotor profiles through a pixel solution-based design method, obtain each spacer scan surface to capture the data point set of sub-compartments, and convert the data point set to the same coordinate system to produce conjugated rotor profiles. Zongmin Liu et al [2] by establishing the relationship between the grinding wheel mounting parameters and the contour accuracy, and studying the characteristics of the contact lines and contour characteristics of the grinding wheels under different installation parameters, the accuracy of the screw line is significantly improved compared with the empirical method, and proves the effectiveness of the proposed method.…”
