Prognostic role of PHYH for overall survival (OS) in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC)

Abstract: This study attempts to evaluate the prognostic role of PHYH for overall survival (OS) in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) by means of publicly available data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). Clinical pathologic features and PHYH expression were downloaded from the TCGA database and relationships between them were analyzed by univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses. Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) and gene–gene interactions were also performed between tissues with different PHYH expre… Show more

“…The literature also indicates that TPTE, INMT, and STAR are differentially expressed in tumours and may be associated with prognosis [46][47][48][49][50]. PHYH has been proven to be linked to multiple diseases, such as Refsum disease and retinitis pigmentosa, and can serve as a prognostic marker in clear cell renal cell carcinoma [51,52]. Moreover, we showed that PHYH was a cancer-promoting gene in HNSCC, a view that is consistent with Xiong et al [53].…”

“…It functions via the interaction with Irf9 to activate the interferon-stimulated genes in the nucleus, thereby enhancing the cellular immunity ( 104 ), while the elevation of Irf9 content was exclusively detected in the caerin group. Phyh (peroxisomal phytanoyl-CoA dioxygenase) regulates peroxisomal fatty acid β-oxidation metabolism and ROS conversion ( 105 ); its concentration positively correlates with potential tumour suppressive environment ( 106 , 107 ), working synergistically with iNOS induced by Stat1 , which may trigger the recruitment of CTLs ( 108 , 109 ). This appeared consistent with more activated CD8 + T cells detected by scRNA-seq.…”
