“…One of the interesting findings of the present meta-analysis was the correlation between a low PNI and increased risks of postoperative gastrointestinal bleeding and stroke, despite a lack of statistical significance probably attributable to a small sample size (i.e., only three studies in each subgroup). Only one previous study indicated that PNI was independently associated with major stroke in patients undergoing carotid artery stenting [43].
