Prognostic value of IGFBP2 in various cancers: a systematic review and meta‐analysis

Abstract: Background The prognostic significance of insulin‐like growth factor binding protein 2 (IGFBP2) expression has been explored in plenty of studies in human cancers. Because of the controversial results, the meta‐analysis was carried out to evaluate the relevance of IGFBP2 expression with the prognosis in various tumors. Methods The data searched from four databases (Pubmed, Embase, Cochrane library, and Web of science) was used to calculate pooled hazard ratios (HRs) in this meta‐analysis. Subgroup analyses wer… Show more

“…Recent studies consistently show that in early pregnancy (before 20 weeks gestation), the plasma level of IGFBP-2 in the PE group was substantially lower in comparison to that in the control group (Figure 2). In addition, IGFBP-2 can regulate the inflammatory response, apoptosis, differentiation invasion, and angiogenesis through multiple signaling pathways such as the Ras-MAPK pathway, PI-3K/AKT pathway, JNK pathway, P53, PTEN, and Wnt/β-catenin molecules [17][18][19][20][21][22][23]. In this study, it was found for the first time that the plasma IGFBP-2 level decreased before 20 weeks of pregnancy in the PE group, which inhibited the invasion of EVT and caused PE.…”

“…IGF1 and IGF2 have been associated with numerous gastrointestinal cancers [31]. Several studies have clarified that serum level and loss of IGF2 imprinting were associated with advanced colorectal adenoma and poor prognosis in advanced stages of CRC, respectively [32].…”

“…IGFBP2 , an encoding gene for a secreted protein or cytoplasmic signaling effector protein, has been identified as an important oncogene associated with malignant cell proliferation, invasion, and EMT ( 44 ). It is currently considered a valuable biomarker for patient diagnosis and prognosis as well as a potential therapeutic target for malignant diseases ( 45 ). Additionally, CTHRC1 encodes an extracellular matrix protein that is involved in tissue remodeling and immune reactions ( 46 ).…”
