Prognostic value of serial six-minute walk tests using tele-accelerometry in patients with chronic heart failure: A pre-specified sub-study of the TIM-HF-Trial

Abstract: Tele-6MWT has a high predictive value with respect to hospitalization as a result of HF or death from any cause and the results were comparable with the prognostic impact of a conventional 6MWT. Therefore Tele-6MWT may be used as alternative test method in the home environment. However, there is no added prognostic value of repeating Tele-6MWTs on a monthly basis.

“…The 6MWD is a widely used tool to assess functional capacity in a wide range of populations, including CVD patients. Several studies demonstrated its ability to predict outcome including heart failure, 7,8 coronary artery disease, 9 and those undergoing cardiac surgery. 6,10 1.00 It has also been suggested that the prognostic utility of 6MWD is comparable to that of cardiopulmonary exercise testing.…”

“…Furthermore, tele-6MWD showed a high predictive role with respect to readmission or all-cause mortality in patients with heart failure, and the values were comparable to the prognostic impact of the conventional 6MWD. 9 Overall, these findings suggesting that 6MWD is a strong indicator of poor prognosis in patients with heart failure.…”

“…The experiment was a test for the motor function status of patients with moderate to severe HF ( 21 ), which examined the motion state of patients from both the Research and Control Groups before the treatment, 1 day after the treatment, and 7 days after the treatment. The test site was an unimpeded corridor with one chair placed every 15 meters for the patients to rest halfway.…”
