Prognostic Value of Serum Albumin for Long-Term Mortality in Patients with Dual-Chamber Permanent Pacemakers

Abstract: Background: This investigation aims to examine the prognostic utility of albumin concentrations for long-term all-cause mortality in patients undergoing permanent pacemaker implantation. Methods: A total of 1798 patients who received permanent pacemaker implantation were divided into quartiles according to serum albumin concentrations. The significance of albumin in predicting long-term mortality was compared in these quartiles. Results: There was a higher rate of long-term mortality in the Q4 group compared w… Show more

“…Previous research had established that traditional cardiovascular risk variables such as age, renal dysfunction, male gender, a family history of coronary artery disease, heart failure, and diabetes are predictors of death following Pacemaker implantation (16). Additionally, more research had been conducted on the association between nutritional status and clinical outcomes (17,18). In this study, we examined this association using the changes in PNI and GNRI scores during the follow-up.…”

“…Prior researches conducted across various populations has demonstrated that serum ALB is a significant independent predictor of long-term mortality in individuals with CVD. 19 , 20 Age is a widely recognized risk factor for long-term mortality in individuals with HF. 21 Elevated TBIL levels at admission are also linked to higher systolic blood pressure and increased risk of cardiac mortality in acute HF patients.…”

“…In the present study, we found that circNFIB had a positive regulatory effect on myocardial fibrosis. Therefore, to some extent, we can expect this factor to be used as a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker of certain cardiovascular diseases in the future, which is also a problem that many researchers have been exploring [ 38 40 ]. This topic still requires further in-depth research on different disease models.…”
